Our July meeting was lively and thought-provoking. We dove into The Heat Will Kill You First — and wow, did it spark discussion. Everyone agreed: this book is both powerfully written and deeply researched. The opening chapter — the heartbreaking story of a young couple, their toddler, and their dog — struck a chord with all of us.
Although not all have finished the book, we decided to go ahead and begin our next read: The Blue Machine: How the Ocean Works by Helen Czerski. For those still finishing The Heat Will Kill You First, no pressure — feel free to read both concurrently. We’ll keep the discussion open for both books at our next meeting.
A few suggested reads: The Mosquito: A Human History of Our Deadliest Predator by Timothy C. Winegard; Human Nature: Nine Ways to Feel About Our Changing Planet by Kate Marvel; Dire Predictions by Michael E. Mann and Lee R. Kump; & Here Comes the Sun by Bill McKibben.
