Repair Café Yakima: August 16, 2025

Repair Café Yakima is a group of volunteers who donate their time and expertise each third Saturday to repair items, free of charge, that are brought in by area residents… from toasters and blenders, to jeans pockets, electronics, small furniture and bicycles.

RCY is one of about 4,000 repair/fix-it organizations around the world, whose purpose it is to keep as many of the brought-in items out of the landfill, while showing our visitors how to repair their possessions.

This mode of thinking not only saves money for our visitors, but introduces them to the idea of repairing, rather than throwing.

We are proud to support, promote and collaborate with Repair Cafe Yakima in their efforts to make Yakima more sustainable.

Please consider volunteering by filling out the volunteer form HERE.

WA Green Amendment Town Hall

WA Green Amendment Town Hall

The Green Amendment is the constitutional change we need to protect our people and priceless natural resources. It would create an enforceable environmental right that would ensure environmental justice for all communities regardless of race, ethnicity, or income. It would help protect the water, air, and soil from pollution and contaminants in order to protect healthy lives and ensure that future generations may enjoy a healthy and clean environment. Join us at a town hall to learn more about this inspiring movement where we aim to bypass the laws and turn to the ultimate authority - our state and federal constitutions. For more information read, the Green Amendment: The People’s Fight for a Clean, Safe, and Healthy Environment by Maya K. van Rossum, and forward by Mark Ruffalo: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/1633310647/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_M9M5JFHR9WK850THTSNY

“Sun Day”

“Sun Day”

“Sun Day” is a national mobilization and action on September 21, 2025 - the Fall Equinox - celebrating solar and wind power, and growing the movement to build a cleaner, healthier future. For more information, see: https://www.sunday.earth

Solar is here, it’s affordable, it works, and it's liberating us from fossil fuels, oil oligarchs, and polluted air and water! Get ready to build, rally, sing, and come together to educate our communities, improve laws, cut red tape and grow the clean energy revolution.

Let’s sure that people understand this is no longer “alternative” energy but rather the obvious, affordable, common-sense choice. With tax credits for green energy set to expire at the end of the year, we need to make a noise about green energy now! If you have solar panels, brag about it! Put signs in your front yard exclaiming it! If you own an Electric Vehicle, brag about it! Put a sign in the car window about how much money you’re saving on gas and/or how much money you got back in tax credits or rebates!

Let’s sound the alarm by scheduling a Sun Day event in Yakima! All ideas considered - please email us with your ideas and suggestions to make this an unforgettable day: 350yakimaclimateaction@gmail.com.

Solar energy is kryptonite to the rich, powerful, and authoritarian. Let's get out the word!

Workshop-Immigration Justice, a Climate Fight Too by STMP

Join us for Part I of our first workshop in collaboration with our partners on the STMP JEDI team. Our first session, will walk us through what climate migration means during this political moment. Climate change is a leading driver of global displacement, and pathways to safety and dignity for displaced people are an essential part of the Climate Justice agenda. But the dominant messages climate advocates share about climate displacement often misrepresent its complex nature and move audiences towards authoritarian solutions like border militarization. This webinar is designed to provide climate advocates with a basic understanding of the complex links between climate and migration and the critical intersection of these movements in responding to the current authoritarian moment. Rally & March - Protect Migrants / Protect the Planet

Rally & March - Protect Migrants / Protect the Planet

Join us this Earth Week to send a clear message in the face of two existential threats: The Admnistration’s war on migrants and the climate emergency that's killing our communities. Our leaders must stand up to protect migrants, and fight for our planet.  Together we can build a world that works for all of us - not just for tech and Big Oil elites.

350 Yakima Climate Action and our allies Between the Ridges: Alliance for the Common Good, Washington Conservation Action, Poder Latinx and others will gather at Millennium Plaza, 22 S Third St, for speeches, then march west on Yakima Ave to First St, turn north and march to Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way, turn east and march to Performance Park at 2nd Ave.  After more speeches there, we will then head south on 2nd to cross Yakima Ave and end back at Millennium Plaza. Immigrant justice IS climate justice. Climate change and migration are profoundly interconnected. Please spread the word!  For details, a map of route, and a form to volunteer (we need a few street monitors), go to: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a8X6lbPC6emUnRxKpCsVrD8nLlPaCxMl/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=100246735902989029372&rtpof=true&sd=true
