Workshop-Immigration Justice, a Climate Fight Too by STMP

Join us for Part I of our first workshop in collaboration with our partners on the STMP JEDI team. Our first session, will walk us through what climate migration means during this political moment. Climate change is a leading driver of global displacement, and pathways to safety and dignity for displaced people are an essential part of the Climate Justice agenda. But the dominant messages climate advocates share about climate displacement often misrepresent its complex nature and move audiences towards authoritarian solutions like border militarization. This webinar is designed to provide climate advocates with a basic understanding of the complex links between climate and migration and the critical intersection of these movements in responding to the current authoritarian moment. Rally & March - Protect Migrants / Protect the Planet

Join us this Earth Week to send a clear message in the face of two existential threats: The Admnistration’s war on migrants and the climate emergency that's killing our communities. Our leaders must stand up to protect migrants, and fight for our planet.  Together we can build a world that works for all of us - not just for tech and Big Oil elites.

350 Yakima Climate Action and our allies Between the Ridges: Alliance for the Common Good, Washington Conservation Action, Poder Latinx and others will gather at Millennium Plaza, 22 S Third St, for speeches, then march west on Yakima Ave to First St, turn north and march to Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way, turn east and march to Performance Park at 2nd Ave.  After more speeches there, we will then head south on 2nd to cross Yakima Ave and end back at Millennium Plaza. Immigrant justice IS climate justice. Climate change and migration are profoundly interconnected. Please spread the word!  For details, a map of route, and a form to volunteer (we need a few street monitors), go to: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a8X6lbPC6emUnRxKpCsVrD8nLlPaCxMl/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=100246735902989029372&rtpof=true&sd=true

Energy Ambassador workshop and listening session

Energy Ambassador workshop and listening session

The WA State Department of Commerce works with an advisory group and has created a series of community engagement sessions around the topic of Energy Ambassadors. There have been many discussions around why so few have submitted applications for WA projects, efficiency grants, or residential or business grants to aid resiliency and sustainability from WA state agencies. One of the most important solutions is getting technical and policy information into the hands of consumers, and the development of an Energy Ambassador program is the bridge between information and action. Working with the Department of Commerce and Ecology, several ideas have been introduced of how better technical guidance and information can influence more grant applications, community development, and improvement that will help our community become more resilient as climate change affects our soil, plants, livelihoods, and economic sustainability. Help be part of the solution by attending both virtual and in person hybrid events where you can learn and give input into how an Energy Ambassador program could help your community, not only identify what could be done in the forms of sustainability and energy efficiency projects, but also how the lack of inclusion of this technical assistance creates another issue our community must deal with while other communities have accessible resources.
